Itinerary

Day 1: NAIROBI - MASAI MARA (Lunch, Dinner)

Morning drive across the great Rift valley to Masai Mara. Afternoon game viewing. Spend the next 2 nights at Mara Sarova lodge or similar.

Day 2: MASAI MARA (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

A full day game viewing at the Mara. Elephants and buffalos abound in the riverine forests, while out on the grasslands Impalas and Thompson's gazelles can be seen together with their attendant predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals. The Mara is, in fact, the northern part of the Serengeti ecosystem and plays host to the vast herds of migratory wildebeest and zebra during the months of July to October. Lesser known species such as topi, hartebeest, waterbuck, eland and many small mammals create a kaleidoscopic picture of wildlife.

Day 3: LAKE NAIVASHA (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Return to the Rift valley and on to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon boat trip on the lake, one of the prime bird watching areas in East Africa. Overnight stay at Naivasha Simba or Sopa lodge with splendid views over the lake.

Day 4: AMBOSELI (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Drive via Nairobi to Amboseli, crossing the Athi plains, home of the colorful Masai tribes. Spend the next 2 nights at Amboseli Serena Lodge.

Day 5: RIFT VALLEY (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Leaving the green and fertile highlands, visit Thomson’s water falls before descending into the Rift valley. Continue to Lake Elementaita. Lunch and afternoon game drive at Soysambu Private Game Sanctuary. OPTIONAL excursion to Lake Nakuru, seasonal home to over 450 bird species including great flocks of flamingo lining the shore (Due to the unpredictable presence of flamingos we offer this as an option with park entry fees payable

Day 6: AMBOSELI(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Morning and afternoon game viewing in Amboseli, a relatively small yet fascinating park of lush water holes and swamps contrasting against flat open plains and acacia woodlands. Elephant and plains game abound as well as the big cats such as lions, leopards and cheetahs. With luck, the snow-capped peak of Mt Kilimanjaro will be visible, creating a spectacular backdrop to the peacefully grazing animals.

Day 7: TSAVO (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Morning drive to Tsavo West Park, stopping to see the Shaitani lava flow. Afternoon game drive at the park. From Kilaguni, great expanses of open plains stretch in all directions with Mount Kilimanjaro, the Chyulu hills, the Taita hills and Ngulia mountains on different horizons. The views from Roaring rocks and Poacher's lookout are truly spectacular. Elephants, buffalos, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos are the most common species of the plains game and smaller mammals present. Wildlife viewing is varied but requires some patience. A visit to Mzima Springs where crystal clear water bubbles up from underground may reveal hippos and crocodiles, seen from an underwater viewing hide. Bird life is extraordinarily colorful and diverse with the Ngulia Mountains hosting many migratory species at certain times of the year. Stay overnight at Kilaguni Lodge.

Day 8: TSAVO - MOMBASA or NAIROBI (Breakfast )

Early breakfast and drive to Mombasa or back to Nairobi. Cost of transfer to beach hotel must be added.
